The Marias River originates in the in Glacier National Park and is formed where Cut Bank Creek meets the Two Medicine River, flowing approximately 210 miles to its confluence with the Missouri River. The River was first seen by the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805 and was named for a cousin of Meriwether Lewis, Maria Wood.
