Fortification Rocks Ranch - 860 Acres in GMU 3 with Live water. Exceptional pasture and Hunting. Fortification Creek runs 2.5 miles through the property providing year round running water, and wetlands. In Addition, the property has an abundance of water rights. Fortification Rocks is a very distinctive property with the unique Fortification Rock formation overlooking large fields. In the past approximately 250 acres were planted in wheat, it is now planted in a wildlife grass mix, but could be easily farmed again (wheat or alfalfa) and the fields can be irrigated. The property is fenced and cross fenced, and the north pasture is goat fenced. The property can run 100 pairs for approximately five months. Sitting at 6500-7000 feet elevation, the property has view of Black Mountain.

Hunting- The property has been used for an outfitting business and has good Elk, Mule Deer, and Antelope hunting; plus small game hunting, grouse, doves. and the wetlands provides remarkable waterfowl hunting. It is the prime migration route for elk ( with thousands coming through), providing good 3rd and 4th season Elk hunting. The property qualifies for landowner vouchers, currently this property is eligible to draw 2 antelope, and 2 deer vouchers.

Easy Access- Adjoining HWY 13, and county Road 109 winds through the property for 2.3 miles. The ranch borders 1280 acres of BLM with a two-track road into the BLM, in addition to bordering 40 acres of landlocked BLM. Located 22 miles north of Craig, CO. ( 20 miles south of Baggs WY).

The property is abundant in history. The rocks were known as a place the Ute Indians would fortify, giving the rock ridge its name. In 1871 the original government road ran through here; and because of the nearby water, this was an essential resting place, there is even an old stage stop still on the property.
