What's on Mitchell Mountain?
Just what is on Mitchell Mountain? Wow. Alone the hike to the very level top, and the view from there, is worth finding out the answer to that question. The numerous game trails that wind through the land offer easy hiking into and around this property's interior. Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs is visible; the great Royal Gorge carved by the Arkansas River; the Collegiates in Chaffee County; our own, magnificent Sangre de Cristo mountain range; the Wet Mountains; Grape Creek flowing into Lake DeWeese and more, can be either glimpsed or gazed upon from this property. The year-round road access is great and here the land is very level and suitable for building. The roads are well maintained, plowed for snow in winter, and the property taxes are low, agricultural dollars. Deer, bear, turkey and elk all enjoy this area, and with this land being located on the north side of Mitchell Mountain there are fewer human residents. Access to Westcliffe for grocery shopping, the library, school, the U.S. Post Office, a variety of restaurants, 2 gyms and 3 gas stations, is quick and on good roads. St. Andrews Golf Course is just a short jaunt's distance, and I believe the golf ball that I found in the forest during my hike is proof that there are some pretty fine golfers in this part of Colorado.
