Long Draw Ranch is located in one of the premier sporting areas in SW Colorado. Between hunting massive mule deer the area is renowned for, fly fishing for huge rainbow trout in the nearby Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, hiking many of the areas 14K ft peaks or snowmobiling the adjacent Alpine Plateau in the winter months, there's no shortage of activities! This 316 acre ranch is completely surrounded by national forest and BLM offering easy access to thousands of acres of public land. Additionally there's a 3 bedroom/1 bath (+ 2,200 sq ft) cabin to come back to after a long day in the field!
As mentioned before, there is excellent hunting opportunities for truly world class mule deer in game management unit 66. The elk hunting is good as well offering realistic chances to harvest mature 6pt bulls scoring over 300 plus inches. Since the property is over 160 contiguous acres and is zoned agricultural, the property will qualify for the state's "Landowner Preference Program". According to the 2017 stats you can draw any unit wide elk tag you'd like annually. Depending on the season, mule deer are a little tougher to draw. However, what may take a non-resident 7 preference points to draw an archery tag will only take a landowner 1 year. Give us a call and we can walk you through the various scenarios.
Location is between the towns of Gunnison and Lake City, Colorado. Gunnison has a regional airport, hospital, grocery store and is home to Western State College. The historic ski town of Crested Butte is an 1hr to the north of Gunnison and is one of the most charming ski towns in all of the West. Besides fantastic skiing, hiking, mountain biking and golf, Crested Butte is known as the wildflower capital of Colorado. Lake City is not to be shortchanged either. Lake City is a jeeping paradise and has several nice restaurants and other amenities to choose from.
